Football Federation of Malaysia (FAM) has called on FIFA security officer to explain his allegations, saying that official-FAM officials have been involved in match-fixing scandal.
FIFA security chief Chris Eaton, was quoted as saying by the daily Singapore, Straits Times, last week, saying "There is an investigation that links official-soccer federation officials in Malaysia to the global match-fixing in Southeast Asia. '"
Allegations immediately provoke a response from the FAM, which says that Eaton comments unwarranted and requested evidence to the letter they sent to the security officer on Thursday.
"We looked at this issue very seriously and want to emphasize to you that as (the comments) that was released by the media is not unreasonable, in which we were not told," the Secretary General of the FAM, Azzudin Ahmad.
"This, by the way, has tarnished the image of our association. FAM would appreciate if you could give details of the investigation where it's happening to us," he said.
FAM alone also recently sentenced 18 young players and give a life sentence on a coach for match-fixing case.
Players from three clubs sanctioned between two to five years for involvement in match-fixing in the President Cup U-20 years ago.
Azzudin also said that the FAM has conducted an investigation of the three Malaysian League team related to this issue, but he declined to give details because the investigation is still ongoing
